What We Do
The Pottery is home to many different artistic endeavours, but we are always Creating Happy.
Painting is the ultimate in mindfulness, with freedom to be as creative as you wish, or simply to colour in using three dimensions. Our peaceful studio is the perfect spot to escape to, and suitable for all. Paint beautiful, functional pieces for your home, thoughtful gifts, or personalised trinkets. We run drop in pottery painting sessions several days a week and you can just turn up and paint - or book a table here. Alternatively, book onto a workshop for tuition in different glazing techniques, or meet up with friends at our relaxed Prosecco & Paint evenings on the first Friday of every month. Your masterpieces can be collected a week after your session!
Joy Price-Gibbs, qualified and experienced ceramicist and teacher, makes working with clay accessible to all, providing a wealth of knowledge to help with creating your own artwork. Have or gift a uniquely memorable experience of the six-week course. Spend two hours in our studio every week learning at your own pace and exploring the areas that interest you the most. All students have the chance to learn hand building, glazing, coiling and experience throwing on the wheel. Many students choose to stay on for more courses and explore in greater depth the area they find an affinity with. Six week blocks run throughout the year on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday both day and evening. Contact us to find out about course availability.
The Pottery is the perfect venue for parties for both kids and adults - everyone is bound to have a wonderful time. Parties can involve pottery painting, a bath bomb workshop, or slime making. The studio is booked for two hours, including time for food - bring your own or organise with Robin's Rest cafe.
For adults, including hen parties, leaving dos, and birthdays, we can put on Prosecco & Paint style evening celebrations - just get in touch to find out more.
Spend the day learning a completely new creative skill at The Pottery. We run workshops on a regular basis, and try to explore a variety of creative pursuits. Willow sculpture with Kate Morrell is a popular one-day course, and a new skill for most people. If you already enjoy pottery making, you will love the process of making and firing raku pieces with Joy, giving brilliant unpredictable crackle, metallic, and oxidised finishes. As the firing occurs outdoors, these workshops are not held during winter. We also hold glazing workshops, working with the stunning reactive blue glazes and others with Roz. See our Facebook page for updates on workshops or to let us know what courses you'd like to see in future!
