Stoneware Glazing Workshop

Durable and beautiful, stoneware has it all!

What is it?!

A workshop introducing stoneware bisque and glazes. We will be bringing stoneware pottery painting into the studio soon, so get ahead and learn techniques and glaze combinations in this taster session! During this three-hour session, you will paint two stoneware pieces from a range of bisque shapes (including, mugs, bowls, and plates) in your choice of glaze combinations. Stoneware is fired to a much higher temperature than earthenware (which makes up the rest of our pottery painting range), so it is extra durable. This means more of the piece can be left unglazed while remaining watertight, and they are dishwasher and microwave safe. There are even au gratin style dishes that can be used in the oven. The higher firing temperatures mean that the glazes tend to move and often drip when they melt in the kiln. This, along with the many possible glaze combinations, makes every piece unique - often in unexpected ways. And two pieces to paint means you get to try out more combinations! This workshop is sure to be informative and relaxing for all - treat yourself or join us with a friend or family member. Tea and biscuits provided, but there will be time for lunch while glazes dry, so feel free to bring a packed lunch or get food from Bean Scene café next door.
